Book the world-famous Trio Maharaj
Who does not know it yet:
- Pandit (Grandmaster) Vikash Maharaj (Sarod) has also played in Germany since the 80s, and has performed together with many jazz musicians and many pop popes (including Peter Gabriel, John McLaughlin, Herbie Hancock, Charlie Mariano, Pat Metheny). He is a music professor in California.
- His eldest son (Tabla), also a music professor in California, recorded the music for the Spielberg film “Lord of the Rings” and won a music competition organized by the Indian government with 100,000 participants.
- The youngest son, Abhishek Maharaj (Sitar), has finished at Benares Hindu University in Varanasi in 5 instruments with a top score that has never been awarded before. He has won the Indian government’s competition for the best string player 5 times in the last 6 years – with 100,000 participants each.
They have already performed as state guests of New Zealand in front of 77,000 people and played in Cologne in front of 12,000 enthusiastic listeners.
They founded an initiative called “Artists against Child Labour” in the 1980s and also support our commitment against child labour in India financially, as they collect donations at every concert and a portion of the entrance fees is used for social purposes.
